The Literacy Volunteers of Southern Connecticut envisions a community of harmony and abundance where all people and their children attain their educational and life goals, and become functioning and contributing members of the Greater Milford Area and society.
The mission of the Literacy Volunteers of Southern Connecticut is to provide services at no cost to any individual who wishes to learn the English language or enhance their reading, writing, speaking and math skills necessary to lead productive lives in our community.
As we continue to grow and add more services to our program, we rely heavily on our volunteers. We have satellite offices in Milford and Stratford Libraries now. Melinda has been “manning” those stations this year. But with an increase of students and classes, her time is needed in the main office. So I am reaching out to see if anyone might be interested in sitting at the desk to be an ambassador for Literacy Volunteers. It would entail explaining the programs and filling out applications for potential tutors and students. Of course there will be brochures and flyers there to assist you.
